    The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the reporting suite, insuring timely & accurate delivery, providing thoughtful analysis and business insights, and will play a key role in the evolution of reporting. This position will scope, plan and execute Company objectives to achieve optimum sales volume and profits.

     

    This position has the potential to be located in St. Helena, CA or New York.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead the formulation and implementation of the WD & WDW annual operating plan.
    • Risk and Opportunity tracking, communication of key variances to plan.
    • Partner with the Finance team to produce and communicate monthly commentary on Plan/Forecast variances.
    • Partner with the Finance team to deliver the P&L on a monthly basis adhering to the closing schedule, making any needed entries, ensuring accuracy of the results, understanding and interpreting monthly financial results, and provide direction and commentary as needed.
    • Establish and maintain databases of pertinent information for use in analyzing actual results, plans, forecasts, and other financial information.
    • Compile all financial and sales information needed for periodic Business Reviews and Forecasts.
    • Deep dive into various P&L components to find and make recommendations on profit generating or cost savings opportunities, and to make reporting, process and operational improvements.
    • Various Special Projects as assigned to drive improved financial results and efficient and effective allocation of resources.
    • Support the sales teams with various Financial initiatives.
    • Update and communicate key financial policies and deadlines as needed.

    Accountability:

    • This position is required to serve as information resources for, and conduits between, all departments and Senior Management.

     

    Qualifications

    EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university.

    • 3 to 5 years related work experience in a commercial finance role is required.
    • A Masters in Business Administration degree is preferred.   

    SKILLS/ABILITIES:  

    • REASONING ABILITY:  This position requires the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  This position also requires the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  This position requires the ability to work with mathematical concepts and operations such as probability, frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, factor analysis, and statistical interference.  This position further requires the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.  This position also requires the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 
    •  COMMUNICATION SKILLS:  This position requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  This position further requires the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or departments.  This position also requires the ability to effectively present information to top management.
    • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, Word, etc.) environment.
    • Must demonstrate the skill to effectively address and resolve problems as a part of a team or group. Solicits input of others and demonstrates both task and process behaviors in group settings.
    • Must have the ability to operate with a high level of energy and strong work ethic focused on outcomes. Demonstrated ability to work on projects towards the accomplishment of established goals and objectives.
    • Must be able to demonstrate good business sense, including the ability to correctly interpret financial information.
    • Ability to utilize appropriate financial data to support informed decisions, track and monitor financial results, and adherence to budgets. Understanding of financial controls and measures.
    • Must have the ability, readiness, and willingness, to commit to timely, rational decisions using logical assumptions and factual information. Not premature in deciding upon a course of action or solution.  Clear in deciding and communicating choice. 
    • Ability to accurately assess risks associated with various courses of action.
    • Ability to think conceptually, flexibly and strategically.
